“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” Matthew 1:23
“O come, O come, Immanuel” is Pastor Rob’s theme for this weekend’s sermon and will cover OT prophecy about the birth of the Messiah. We look forward to seeing everyone! We will be having the Lord’s supper this weekend.
Advent at CCCC
The faith stories of Advent tell of a situation – a young woman great with child, wondering, “Will I be able to do this? Can I be the mother of God’s son”? In the stories of Mary, Joseph, the prophets, the Israelites, and the shepherds we witness monumental commands accompanied by the enormous promise that those who hear and respond are not alone.
Advent calls us to ask ourselves, “Will we be ready, and how will we prepare to welcome God with us?”
Lighting candles on an Advent wreath offers us an opportunity to remember the stories of scripture as we look toward Christmas. This month we will light a candle each week, trusting that in the simple act of lighting a candle, we invite Christ into our lives yet again.
